Finding meaningful relationships can be tough in today’s over-connected world. One hundred years ago, before easy transportation, the Internet, and cell phones, individuals and families operated in close community. Their neighbors and family within a close walking distance served as a strong support base during life’s storms and trials.
Today, community takes a more deliberate approach. This is the purpose of small groups at First Family. Lighthouses are the place where family happens at First Family Church. It is our goal to have every member of our church involved in either a Lighthouse or another similar small group experience. These home Bible study groups require a ten-week commitment, and are comprised of 10-16 people. They meet weekly to share, to study God’s Word and to support one another spiritually. Most of the groups study curriculum that coordinates with our weekly sermons.
Lighthouses meet for three 10-week sessions from late September through the end of May, taking a break during the summer months. From the inception of Lighthouses at First Family Church in 2005, 80% of our weekend adult attendance have been actively involved in a Lighthouse.
To help you locate the right Lighthouse for you, we’ve developed a simple form that allows you to search all of our small groups based on your specific needs and stage of life. Once you locate one or two Lighthouses, complete the form and a Lighthouse Leader will contact you with information about their group.
If you have any questions about joining a Lighthouse or would like more information, please contact the church office at (515) 965-8300 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
